Skills Utilisation - Working With Attitude
Utilising skills effectively is recognised as a real issue in Scotland, impacting on business performance and profitability.
Working With Attitude, a partnership between education and industry, seeks to explore skills utilisation and the impact it has on company and individual performance, feeding into future policy development on how Scotland will maximise its skils and grow its economy.
This vital research is part of a wider evaluation of learning and teaching in Scotland that will inform future curriculum and training course development. The aim is to ensure new training programmes and awards represent the needs of both individual learners and industry. The new curriculum with develop 'job-ready' students with appropriate vocational and employability skills ready to face the economic challenges ahead.
Participating companies will not only support invaluable sectoral research, but will also benefit from consultancy support to the value of £1700 per business, informing better skills use within their business, enabling them to:
- better understand their workforce, their skills and what motivates them
- target training resources and spend to maximise productivity
What's involved
Individual employees wiill participate in the MTQ psychometric profile, a mapping of their existing skills against the National Occupational Standard (NOS) for their job role and a review of their core skills.
Alongside these individual assessments, line managers will have the opportunity to give 360 degree feedback and reflect on operational priorities.
Based on this, individuals will be given a personal development plan on how to better utilise their skills and the organisation will receive a comprehensive skills utilisation audit, identifying areas for development.
