Fire Fighters climb the ladder of success

SCE Enterprise has been commended at the Business to College Awards for building a successful business relationship over 15 years with the world's leading airport company, BAA.

The awards have been designed to recognise the many ways in which colleges support business sustainability and SCE Enterprise and BAA has worked in partnership to provide an online training programme specifically designed for the BAA fire service.

This programme is a practically based tool which prepares fire service staff for the next step on the organisation's management ladder and enables staff to progress their career within the company.

Delivered via the college's Virtual Learning Environment, the 11 month programme is based on the practical skills and knowledge required to perform a key role in today's Aviation Fire Services.

Tony Storer, Group Fire Service Training Manager for BAA, said:

"The mutual respect within our relationship has developed over the years, BAA recognize the excellent training facilities provided through SCE Enterprise and the common vision of improving learning for all people given the advances in technology."

Following a successful launch, a further two training groups are currently following the programme.  Evaluation and review systems have been put in place which allow for continual updates of the programme to ensure it adheres to up-to-date practices and legislation.

With BAA's continued support and backing, SCE Enterprise is now taking this training product to a wider market and other aviation fire services within the UK and internationally.  Further projects involving BAA and SCE Enterprise are planned, including working towards new programmes for other areas within the organisation.  Craig Wilson, Assistant Principal - Enterprise & International Affairs, said:

"We are delighted to be recognised for one of these awards.  This is an excellent opportunity for SCE Enterprise to highlight the importance and the benefits of establishing partnerships with clients as an effective method of developing tailored training and development solutions."
