Organise and Co-ordinate Events

Aim

This half day programme will give individuals a solid foundation to enable them to deal with the main responsibilties and tasks involved in organising, co-ordinating and evaluating an event.

Objectives

By the end of this course individuals will :

  • Understand the role and responsibility of the events organiser. Understanding and ensuring an appropriate brief and budget for the event.
  • Understand the administrative needs and requirements of various events and the resources required.
  • Know how to deal with any special requirements of delegates and ways of ensuring these are catered for.
  • Be able to work within the health, safety and security guidelines, ensuring the event is vacated efficiently and effectively.
  • Be confident in supporting and co- coordinating the conference or event activities on the day.
  • Be capable of understanding and pre empting problems and issues and developing innovative ways to deal effectively and efficiently with them.

Through initial small process inputs and handout material for discussion, students will be assisted in their understanding of key requirements and their effective utilisation into practice.  Individuals will be assisted in their understanding and familiarity of processes and domestic and legal requirements through small group discussions and case study analysis. Feedback to individual students will be through ongoing tutor interaction and group facilitation.

Course Content

  • Introductions, ground rules and learning requirements.
  • The role and responsibilities of the events organiser. Understanding and ensuring an appropriate brief and budget for the event.
  • The administrative needs and resource requirements of various events 
  • Understanding and catering for the special requirements of delegates
  • Working within the health, safety and security guidelines.
  • Supporting and co- coordinating the conference or event activities on the day.
  • Understanding and pre empting problems and issues whilst developing innovative ways to deal effectively and efficiently with them.

The course will utilise a variety of training approaches including, case studies, small and large group discussions, problem solving exercises and lecturettes with accompanying handouts.
