Leading Teams for High Performance

Aim

This course will explore the key factors that make teams effective and look at the skills required to build, strengthen and maintain a team.

 

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  •  Identify leadership styles and how they affect a team
  •  identify the features a team requires to work effectively
  • develop a purpose and vision for a team
  • use team building techniques and motivate a team
 

Course Content

The course (standard) will cover:

  • different leadership styles
  • your leadership style and adjusting it to suit the team
  • recognising your team’s stage of development
  • strategies for developing a team and team based planning
  • developing a vision and purpose for the team and communicating it effectively
  • providing direction and support to motivate a team
  • building the right environment
 This course is highly participative.  It consists of lectures and discussion groups focused on the real issues that take place in teams in the workplace.  Group work and case studies will be used to explore the issues raised and help put them in perspective.  Action planning and checklists will aid effective working back in the job role.

Assessment

This course is suitable first line managers or those who are expecting to be acting in such a role in the near future. 

Courses covering the area of leading and building teams can be tailored to meet specific requirements in terms of content and duration.
