Introduction to Leadership & Teambuilding
Aim
To provide an understanding of and practice in motivational techniques; situational and action centred leadership and team building.
Objectives
On successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify key and utilise motivational methods
- Have gained an understanding and practice of the key characteristics of action - centred leadership
- Be able to identify the stages through which groups and teams progress as they develop
- Understand the dynamics of working within groups and why effective groups are necessary for organisational success
- Gain teambuilding, team maintenance and leadership skills
Course Content
The course will cover:
- Work motivation and the leaders role
- Leadership: attributes or behaviours ?
- Situational and action centred leadership
- Action planning: Building effective teams in the workplace
- Team building: The team, the task and the individual
- Team building activity
- Characteristics of effective work teams
- Action planning: Building effective teams in the workplace
The approach is focused on work-based issues and is participant centred. Participants can be facilitated to provide a problem solving report on some aspect of organisational concern and/or an action plan, designed to enhance personal and organisation efficiency.
Assessment
This short course can be used as credit towards the ILM Certificate in First Line Management at Level 3.
It is worth 2 credits and a written assessment must be completed to gain these credits.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements but some experience within a management role would be desirable.
