CIH Level 4 Certificate/Diploma in Housing

Aim

* Next course commences March 2012*

Learners will study 2 units at a time in 12 week blocks. On the successful completion of the 6 units in the first year the learner will achieve a CIH Level 4 Certificate in Housing. The successful completion of the further 6 units in the second year provides the learner with the CIH Level 4 Diploma in Housing*

This online programme aims to:

  • provide housing staff working at, or aspiring to a supervisory or management level with a qualification to suit their needs.
  • develop skills and knowledge for the current challenges in housing
  • prepare learners for further study and progression at undergraduate level if desired

Objectives

  • To allow learners the opportunity to study at a level to suit their needs
  • To create skilled and well trained staff who in turn will improve service delivery to tenants, residents and employers and increase their value to the organisation

Course Content

The course comprises 12 units taken over 2 years.

The first year Level 4 Certificate in Housing comprises the following 6 units:

  • Housing Need, Demand and Supply
  • Housing Policy
  • The Delivery of Housing Servicing
  • Managing People
  • Customer Involvement in Local Services
  •  Housing Management Services

The second year Level 4 Diploma in Housing comprises the following 6 units:

  • Housing Economics
  • Housing Law
  • Partnership Working in Housing
  • Professional Practice Skills for Housing
  • Diversity for Housing
  • Research for Housing

Assessment

The qualification is assessed using a variety of methods, including formal written assignments, reports, short questions and case studies. There are no written examinations within college.

Each unit will last for 12 weeks and assessment will take place within this timescale

Entry Requirements

Learners should be currently employed in a housing organisation.
