Risk Assessment
Aim
This course will give an understanding of the legal obligations to carry out risk assessment and provide the knowledge to perform a risk assessment and be able to implement an effective risk control strategy.
Objectives
On successful completion of the course, participants will:
- Be able to carry out simple risk assessment in the workplace.
- know where to go to seek further information where necessary.
- be able to develop a management action plan to minimise risks in their own environment

The course will cover:
- Basic concepts of risk assessment
- Hazard and risk – the differences
- Risk assessment process
- Hazard identification and analysis techniques
- Legal requirements for risk assessment.
- Understanding control measures such as design, training and supervision
Assessment
The course is highly participative and consists of tutor led sessions with focused discussions. Case studies and video will be used as appropriate.
This course is designed for managers or supervisors with line responsibility for health and safety issues and individuals in the workplace with direct involvement in health and safety in the workplace.
