NEBOSH National General Certificate - Flexible Learning

Aim

The NEBOSH National General Certificate - Flexible Learning will provide a sound general foundation in hazard identification and the management of safety based on the NEBOSH syllabus.  It will provide full preparation for entry to the NEBOSH Certificate examinations.

 

Objectives

On successful completion of the course, participants will have passed the examinations necessary for the NEBOSH Certificate award, and will have demonstrated ability to:

  • identify typical hazards encountered in a full range of work environments
  • describe methods of controlling risks
  • communicate effectively on health and safety matters in the workplace
  • recognise the important of accident investigation and record keeping
  • describe the requirements of health, safety and welfare legislation
  • carry out competently and prepare a suitable written report on a workplace inspection
 

Course Content

  • This course can be started at any time during the academic year. One year of tutor support is offered although the course can be completed in less time. Course cost is £810.

Assessment

Participants complete course work mainly in their own time using high quality study materials.  The study is supported by experienced tutors and personal contact by tutorial, telephone and email.  Use of the flexi-study resource base and the College library will give access to a wide range of reference materials.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is designed for personnel who have supervisory or managerial responsibilities which include health and safety or others who require a basic knowledge and understanding of occupational safety and health to operate more effectively in the workplace with respect to health and safety.

 

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements although a practical assessment in health and safety must be achievable in the workplace.  Due to the nature of the course examinations a reasonable standard of written English is expected.
