Sage Payroll
Aim
The aims of the SAGE payroll course are:
- To provide participants with comprehensive training in the latest SAGE Payroll package.
- To develop computerised Payroll skills and knowledge for use in the workplace.
Upon completion of this course, students might want to consider our other financial based courses such as Introduction to Accounting, Higher National Accounting or the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) courses.
Objectives
On successful completion of the course, participants will be able to record routine and non-routine payroll transactions. They will also be able to produce appropriate financial reports and process year end returns to HMRC standards.
Course Content
The training is based around processing a payroll for a fictitious organisation. The tasks and data cover a full payroll (fiscal) year. the content will include:
- Dealing with Income Tax and National Insurance parameters.
- Statutory payments (inclucing sickness and maternity pay).
- Company information and pensions.
- Pay elements and deductions.
- Processing pay (weekly and monthly).
- Non-routine transactions (student loans, change of tax code, attachment of earnings order etc.).
- Company car legislation.
- Computerising mid-year.
- Processing the end of the tax year.
Assessment
This course is designed for anyone who wishes to learn more about the SAGE Payroll package and / or would like to obtain a computerised payroll certificate in order to improve job prospects or for a career change.
This course can be an end in itself or participants can go on to study other book keeping or accounting qualifications.
Entry Requirements
The SAGE Payroll course is designed for anyone who wishes to learn how to operate a SAGE Payroll package (or similar product) and would like to obtain a computerised payroll certificate. There are no formal entry requirements but a basic knowledge of payroll (manual or computerised) would be very helpful. (Entry requirements for this course are now under review and may be revised for 2012/13 enrolment.)
