The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is the only chartered professional body that is dedicated to management and leadership. They are committed to raising the performance of business by championing management.

CMI wants to ensure managers and leaders have the confidence and knowledge to do their job to the best of their ability. Ultimately ensuring managers are equipped with the necessary skills to deal with the challenges and decisions  faced throughout their career, and to realise the full potential of managers  and the organisations which they manage. CMI help set and raise standards in management, encouraging individual development to improve performance. Established over 50 years ago they now represent 71,000 individual managers and have 450 corporate members. Within the Institute there are also a number of distinct specialisms, including the Institute of Business Consulting and Women in Management Network.

Such a diverse membership enables them to represent the views and needs of the practising management community to Government and other key stakeholders. They regularly contribute to government policy-making and the development of legislation and policy initiatives.

Their research team specialises in exploring and communicating a wide variety of management issues with the aim of improving understanding, behaviour and practice.
